Mission: Mail Call - Updates for March 2021
UPDATES FROM THE FIELD
A Smooth Transition
With roughly 15% of the military transitioning each year and 33% of the military relocating each year, USO-Metro recognizes the need to effectively increase the post-military career employment prospects for service members and support military spouses, who are constantly in transition due to their service member’s frequent change of duty stations.
USO-Metro Transition Program focuses these efforts in Employment Readiness, Employment Services, Family Transition, Project Next S.T.E.P., Stronger Spouses, and Transition Skills Training. Since 2019, USO-Metro has seen a 200% increase in the number of program participants and worked to provide career opportunities and advice to over 1950 transitioning service members and military spouses in the National Capital Region. UPCOMING EVENTS
Rockin’ the Boots
To celebrate Women’s History Month this March, USO-Metro is proud to host its annual Rockin’ the Boots for active duty military women in the region. Designed to celebrate the diversity of women in the military, this symposium was founded to empower women and provide support through panel discussions with female veterans and active duty military who have excelled in and out of uniform. The intended outcome is for military women to be provided practical and applicable advice and tips to better engage with the population they serve.
