Ahead of their game against the Washington Nationals Tuesday, the New York Mets took the opportunity to visit wounded, ill and injured warriors recovering at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Since 2014, when the USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda opened, players have come out for a round of corn hole, basketball and music on the patio with service members.
“This is something that our service members and their families look forward to every year,” said Cassidy Wilfong, Program Supervisor at the USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda.
The Mets treated our military community to autographed fan paraphernalia and a day of games, giveaways, lunch, and a meet and greet with the team and staff.
