Garden Works

Welcome to USO National Capital District Garden Works!

Garden Works (GW) is a community of gardeners founded in mid-2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. As military families huddled at home with little to do, there was a need for fun and purposeful family activities, a way to reduce social isolation, and a desire for resiliency. With a team of Virginia Master Gardeners and USO volunteers, we established a private Facebook group and used USO-sponsored events to share our gardening experiences, education, support, and creativity.

Here’s a sample of the many offerings and engagements created by our USO-Metro Garden Works (GW) volunteers!
